So, I've been reading these articles/research studies on how 85% productivity is the sweet spot. It helps you stay productive and prevent burnout that comes from overworking. It works wonders, especially, for those in creative fields. 

The rest 25% of your workday should be spent on breaks, socializing at work, and likes.

Am I the a-hole for having a good time with my team? 

Back in 2020 while working with an agency, I was handling a team of 7. I somehow managed to build a very close-knit, happy team. Every morning I would arrive at work and start the day with laughter on a positive note. 

I was called to the founder's cubicle and one of my managers told me to not laugh so loudly with my team as it ruined the decorum of the office. It made me look like their buddy and not the manager. I apologized and never spoke about it with anyone until now.

Was I in the wrong?

Is your toxic workplace draining your wallet? 🤔

Working at a company that doesn't value your financial needs, makes you work overtime without pay, and refuses to raise your monthly pay can make you feel undeserving.🤷‍♀️ 

Additionally, management forcing you to attend after-work drinks, team dinners, and social gatherings can quickly add up. If you're always saying "yes," even when your budget says "no," you're setting yourself up for financial strain. 

Remember, this is a clear sign of toxicity in the workplace!🤦‍♀️

A communication trick that changed my corporate life - 

When someone speaks, listen attentively and spot if they use "I think" or "I feel" statements. 

If you’re familiar with Meyers-Briggs (MBTI), these distinctions can help you identify if they are a Thinker (T) or a Feeler (F). 

Thinkers process logical information and feelers process emotional information more readily. So, communicate accordingly.

A meta-cognitive thinking technique I use to live a better life - 

I believe that I'm the protagonist in a play and that the world is my theater. I do what needs to be done to get the story to progress forward. Imagine my life is a play by Anton Chekhov – every action, and every decision is a pivotal scene, shaping the plot. 

I learned this technique during my time in the IIT drama club from a peer (a dramaturgy genius).

✅Writing down what I want to achieve in the year with steps & timeline. Keeping it below 5 goals (I don't want to disappoint myself). 
✅What will I lose if I don't achieve the respective goal? 
✅Who else will be affected if I don't achieve it? 
✅List down people who can help me achieve those goals.

Mental Health

Due to depression sapping my motivation to do anything for a long time, I never managed to do much career networking, nor did I manage to really get a girlfriend.

I have been getting some help on the depression side so I can start to do things again now, but I feel out of my depth. 
I can hold conversations with strangers fine, but I don't know what to do where I want to build towards a romantic relationship, or a career opportunity. 

Of course the lack of experience doesn't help my confidence. 🧐

I will very much appreciate some pointers.
